Mother-of-two Maggie Darroch, who has worked for NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde for 25 years, will travel to Mexico in September to represent Team GB in the 50-54 age group.
Maggie, who lives in Milngavie near Glasgow, only starting competing competitively in triathlon eight years ago and was selected to compete at the Championships after winning her age group category race at trials in June.
She will head to Mexico with her husband Mark, who also works for NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde as an eHealth Programme Manager.
Maggie said: “I am thrilled to be selected for the Championships and have the opportunity to represent Great Britain. Having only started taking triathlon seriously in the past few years I never dreamt that I would have the chance to compete against athletes from across the world in such an auspicious event.”
Maggie will race on 15 September and plans to arrive in Mexico the previous week to give her time to acclimatise.
She said: “I have a fairly hectic training scheduled planned over the next month. I am hugely grateful to SWAN for its support – the sponsorship will help to pay for the race entry, transportation of the bike and the Team GB kit.”
Eddie Cronie, managing director of SWAN, said: “We are delighted to be able to support Maggie and wish her every success in Mexico.”
