Updata, part of Capita plc, has been named as one of the first compliant suppliers of the new Health and Social Care Network (HSCN) by NHS Digital.
HSCN, which replaces the old NHS network N3, is designed to provide more flexible, highly robust network connectivity to the NHS and health and social care organisations around the country, as well as giving organisations a choice over their network supplier.
Updata, which has extensive experience in delivering a large scale PSN network through the Scottish Wide Area Network (SWAN) and other large regional networks in England and Wales, is one of the first five providers to secure Stage 1 compliance as a Consumer Network Service Provider (CN-SP) for the new network.
Beatrice Butsana-Sita, managing director of Capita Networking Solutions, said: “Updata has been at the vanguard of preparations for the end of N3 and the move to HSCN, and we are very proud to be among the very first accredited suppliers.
“HSCN has the power to transform connectivity throughout the NHS, and ensure NHS organisations of all sizes have connectivity which is fit for purpose, secure, meets their individual needs and helps improve patient outcomes.
“In order to make the absolute most of this opportunity to secure better connectivity while reducing costs, NHS organisations must start engaging with suppliers now to get the best possible solution for their requirements.”
